Waikuku Beach Holiday Park has a new short term manager. Experienced Holiday Park owners Steve Edwards and Jen Levien of SJE Holiday Parks will take over management of the Holiday Park from the Council from 9 October 2023.
Waikuku Beach Holiday Park is one of a number of camping grounds owned by the Council and operated privately.
The Camp’s former long-term leaseholders, who have successfully managed the campground since 2006, stepped down last September. Te Kōhaka o Tūhaitara Trust with the support of Council stepped in to take over the management while an interim manager was appointed.
Council’s Property Unit Manager Rob Hawthorne says the Holiday Park is in good hands while a permanent operator is found.
“Our new operators have extensive experience having owned and successfully operated numerous campgrounds around the country over the last 25 years.
“We want to let people with bookings know that they will be looked after while we find a more permanent lease holder.”
The interim management will stay in place until 30 June 2024, and the Council has now issued a Request for Proposal for the longer-term management of the Camp and are looking to secure an operator by April 2024.
