Council is committed to working alongside the community and voluntary sector to see positive outcomes in the life and development of the District.
In addition to its support for Residents and Community Associations. The Community Team support and/or facilitate a number of collaborative networks that work to address gaps in service provision, issues and opportunities related to:
- Health and Wellbeing
- Social Service Provision
- Youth Development
- Older Persons
- Family violence, alcohol-related harm and suicide
- Social Inclusion
- Volunteering and skill sharing
The monthly meetings and presentations provide an opportunity for networking and information sharing amongst members of the voluntary, non-government sectors. They also help to enhance the support and collaboration between all providers who deliver services to the people living in the Waimakariri and North Canterbury communities.
The topics discussed will help you familiarise yourself with the changes taking place in the district and how this impacts on people you work alongside, for example youth unemployment and emergency housing.
The meetings/presentations occur around the district on the second Thursday of each month. Network meetings are between 12 noon and 1pm and follow on from a presentation if one has been organised.

Notes are taken at the meeting and can be made available by contacting the facilitator if you are unable to attend. Feel free to bring your questions and we will provide hand-outs on the day along with refreshments.
