Pavement Rehabilitation on Mill Road, Ohoka

As part of the Waimakariri District Council Maintenance Contract, CORDE will be carrying out pavement rehabilitation (granular overlay) and dig-out repairs on Mill Road, Ohoka.

The work will include

The work will start on Monday 10 February 2025 and is planned to be undertaken in three stages.

Stage One - Mill Road, between Bradleys Road and Whites Road:

  • Daily closures starting from Monday 10 February to Friday 7 March, 7am - 6pm (approx. 4 weeks).
  • The westbound lane will be open for school traffic from 3pm each day (for approximately 45 minutes).

Stage Two - Mill Road, between Whites Road and Wilson Drive:

  • Daily closures from Monday to Thursday,  7am - 6pm.
  • This work is to follow on from the completion of Stage One and has an estimated start date of Monday 10 March. Work is expected to be complete by Friday 21 March (approx. 2 weeks).
  • The road will be open on Fridays to allow access to the Ohoka Farmers Market. The westbound lane will be open for school traffic at around 3pm on Monday to Thursday (for approximately 45 minutes).

Stage Three - Mill Road, between Wilson Drive  and Kintyre Lane:

  • Daily closures from Monday to Thursday between the hours of 7am to 6pm.
  • This work is to follow on from the completion of Stage Two and has an estimated start date of Monday 24 March. Work is expected to be completed by Friday 4 April (approx. 2 weeks).
  • The road will be open on Fridays to allow access to the Ohoka Farmers Market. The westbound lane will be open for school traffic at around 3pm on Monday to Thursday (for approximately 45 minutes).

Timing of work
The work is planned to start 10 February 2025 and is aimed to be compelted by 4 April 2025.

Traffic impacts
Residents will be allowed into the closure for property access. Access to businesses within the closure area will also be maintained.

Detours will be in place, and signs will guide motorists around the road closures (refer to maps below). Closure boards will be installed a week prior to the start of each stage, and this will be supplemented by communications on our website and social media. If the work is completed early, then closures will be removed.

While construction is underway on site, please:

  • When exiting properties onto Mill Road, look out for work vehicles and machinery
  • Note that Mill Road will be open west bound only from 3pm for Stage One
  • Identify yourselves to the staff on site.
  • Limit your speed to 30km / hour.
  • Note that this is an active worksite containing heavy construction machinery and a varying road surface, so please drive accordingly.

Stage One detour - Mill Road closed between Bradleys Road & Whites Road.

Stage Two and Three detour - Mill Road closed between Whites Road & Jacksons Road.

In the event of bad weather or for unforeseen circumstances, the work may be delayed.

Safety
Please warn your children of the dangers posed by road works. Ensure that they stay well back from the work site and they follow the directions of the workers.
