A four metre tall 'Wind Swept Tree' is now standing proudly in Silverstream thanks to the Waimakariri Public Arts Trust and Kaiapoi-Tuahiwi Community Board.
The piece by local Hurunui artist Raymond Herber fits perfectly amongst the serenity of Silverstream on the western side of Silverstream Terrace Reserve on Ohoka Road.
The sculpture was commissioned and donated by the Waimakariri Public Arts Trust and Kaiapoi-Tuahiwi Community Board funded the installation in the Reserve and the surrounding landscaping.
An opening event for the sculpture will be held on 20 November hosted by the Trust.
Herber is known for his use of discarded metal in his work and this piece is said to be inspired by his surroundings at his property, Iron Ridge Quarry Sculpture Park.
It's location was chosen to give the public as much visibility to the work as possible.
