Preparing for Significant Rainfall

Council teams are keeping watch of a developing weather system that’s forecast to bring significant rainfall.

Monday 17 June at 11.00am

The forecast for the rest of this week has decreased a lot now and we are looking at showers and rain off and on with clear spells in between for most of the week.

The wettest period is looking to be tonight through until early tomorrow, but we are still only expecting to see 3mm to 4mm during this period.

Wednesday 12 June at 4.30pm

The forecast is evolving rapidly and things are starting to look more concerning now for the middle to the end of next week. At this stage MetService have not issued any advisories for our district.

Wednesday next week is going to be the one to watch, with potential rainfall up to 55mm.

Wednesday 12 June at 11.00am

At this stage, rain is expected for Waimakariri from Thursday afternoon through until mid-morning Saturday. There may be a period of heavier rain overnight going from Friday into Saturday.

Now is a good time to clear your gutters and drains of debris before the rain arrives.
