UPDATE: The road is now open.

Tuesday 25 July, 8.30am

UPDATE: Pumps working throughout the night have worked amazingly. The water level has dropped and the road is now open to all vehicles.

Flooding signage will remain to alert drivers to the risk.

Monday 24 July - 4.45pm

The road will remain closed overnight to all vehicles apart from 4x4s. Pumps are on site and will be operating throughout the night to lower the water level.

We anticipate water will start to recede overnight and the road can be reopened in the morning.

Monday 24 July - 2pm

We’ve got contractors on the way with pumps to help drain the water however, this could take a few hours.

This means that there will be no access in or out of Waikuku Beach at this stage. We appreciate that this will have a significant impact on residents and access, but our priority is to keep people safe. Please do not drive through the road closure.

Please do not walk, swim or drive through flood water. Always assume that flood water is contaminated. Wash your hands, clothes and property after contact with flood waters.

Kerbside collections cannot be completed in Waikuku Beach today due to the closure.

We are actively working to resolve this situation and will keep you posted. Please share with your community networks.Waikuku Map
