In addition to the short term actions, we are developing a longer term strategy for managing traffic flow, traffic safety, pedestrian safety, access to business and residents, public transport and cycling.
Townsend Road Culvert
The culvert bridge that crosses South Brook on Townsend Road is narrow and is ageing quickly.
Work to realign the water main has now been completed.
The bridge replacement will occur in 2024/25 but may require Townsend Road to be closed with traffic redirected along Lehmans Road or through Southbrook Road.
Southbrook Road Culvert
The culvert on Southbrook Road over the Middle Brook (just south of South Belt) requires replacing.
Construction is planned for 2025/26, however this will be a major project with the potential to cause significant traffic disruption. While planning is still ongoing the intention is to be able to maintain two-way traffic during peak hours.
