From 30 September 2024, updates to Form 2 and Building Regulations will provide clearer rules and more flexibility for building consent applications.
From 30 September 2024, changes to several Building Regulations will take effect, including clearer definitions of 'minor variation' and the introduction of a formal definition for 'minor customisation' under MultiProof approvals. These updates aim to enhance flexibility within the broader building consent system and the MultiProof scheme.
As part of these changes, our Building Consent Application form (Form 2) has been revised in accordance with the Building Forms Regulations. The new form allows applicants to specify alternative products, plans, or specifications, if needed.
The updated Form 2 is mandatory for all applications submitted on or after 30 September 2024.
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) will provide further detailed guidance on minor variations soon.
