Waimakariri has four fairy forests scattered around the district at Woodend Beach, Kaiapoi Domain, Pines Beach and Pegasus Beach.
Pegasus Fairy Forest
The Pegasus Fairy Forest was created in March 2024 as part of International Children's Day celebrations. The initiative was a collaboration between Council and Pegasus Residents Association. A map to the Forest can be found here.
Pines and Kairaki Beaches Fairy Forest
The Pines and Kairaki Beaches Fairy Forest was created by some local children in early 2024 with support from Pines and Kairaki Beaches Association. The Forest officially opened in November 2024. A map to the Forest can be found here.
Woodend Beach Fairy Forest
The Woodend Beach Fairy Forest was created in March 2024 as part of International Children's Day celebrations. The initiative was a collaboration between Council, Woodend Residents Group and Te Kōhaka o Tūhaitara Trust. A map to the Forest can be found here.
