Social Services Waimakariri

Social Services Waimakariri is an independent advisory group that provides a forum for invited social sector community providers and partners from local and central government to:

  • Identify, prioritise, and respond to emerging social and health issues
  • Identify opportunities for collaborative responses
  • Encourage collaboration among social and health service providers in Waimakariri District
  • Provide information and advice to the Council on social and health service needs and gaps in the district
  • Act as an information channel between the community and the Council.

The collaborative of Social Services Waimakariri exists to develop, enhance and coordinate service responses to health and social issues relevant to our community.

This is accomplished by providing:

  • A strategic focus on community outcomes and building capacity
  • Strong leadership in collaboration, advocacy, innovation and project activity
  • Encouraging shared decision-making across the whole community, in a way that is well connected to the community, social service providers, Ngai Tuahuriri, local and central government.

Parenting Support and Information

Social Services Waimakariri put out a brochure every term covering parenting programmes, support services and counselling services.
