Community Board Grants Approved
Tuesday, 2 October 2012
At their respective meetings last month the Kaiapoi and Rangiora Community Boards have approved a range of discretionary Board grants for the community.
The grants, which target non-profit community based organisations, go towards the funding of projects within the Boards area and which primarily benefit the residents of the ward.
Recipients include the Waimakariri Road Safety Committee, the North Canterbury Cycling Club, the International Day of Older Persons, the Rangiora Scottish Country Dancing Club, the Kaiapoi Promotions Association and Reflections Community Trust for projects as diverse as a pool party for schoolchildren involved in school patrols, a ‘Confident Driving for the Mature Driver’ seminar, band hire for the Kaiapoi Carnival to be held in December and an afternoon tea concert.
Applications for the grants are invited from the community on a quarterly basis for Kaiapoi and Rangiora, with the next round of applications due to be considered in December this year, and then again in March 2013. Applicants are recommended to submit their applications at least six weeks prior to Board meeting dates for processing.
Funding grants are normally a maximum of $500 in any one financial year but any one group can apply twice in one year, provided it is for different projects. For those interested groups, full details of the application process can be found on the Community Board and Advisory Board Funding page.
