meet if you wish to serve or sell alcohol in the Waimakariri District.
The Waimakariri District Licensing Committee (DLC) acts on behalf of the Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority, and issues alcohol licences and manager's
The required criteria for licences and certificates is set out in the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and Regulations.
It is a legal requirement to obtain a licence before you can sell or
supply alcohol. The philosophy behind the Act is not to restrict alcohol
sale and supply, but rather to promote safe and legal drinking.
Local Alcohol Policy
The Council adopted the Local Alcohol Policy on 3 February 2015.
Permanent Liquor Bans
The Waimakariri District has several alcohol ban areas. The Liquor Ban Bylaw 2007 includes information on the ban as well as maps of the liquor ban areas.
