The required criteria for licences and certificates is set out in the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and Regulations.
It is a legal requirement to obtain a licence before you can sell or
supply alcohol. The philosophy behind the Act is not to restrict alcohol
sale and supply, but rather to promote safe and legal drinking.
Provisional Local Alcohol Policy
The Council's Provisional Local Alcohol Policy (LAP) was approved for public notification on 18 December 2013.
Permanent Liquor Bans
The Waimakariri District has several alcohol ban areas. The Liquor Ban Bylaw 2007 includes information on the ban as well as maps of the liquor ban areas.
